Not just fend them off by allowing them to capture a soldier. Your goal should be to kill them every time they show up. WebChosen Weapons are Not Good Enough XCom is a game about managing risk. Do you stay behind cover with a 70% chance to Hit? Or do you head out in the open for the guaranteed kill? Therefore, the most valuable thing to have is consistent value. This is why the chosen weapons fall apart (with one exception) and end up not being worth it to run.
